Sundargarh: An 18-year-old youth went missing in the Ib river during a picnic at Kanakunda in Sundargarh district of Odisha on Sunday.
The missing youth has been identified as Satwik, a resident of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. His father works at the NTPC power plant at Darlipali in Sundargarh.
According to reports, Satwik and 14 other youths, all family members of the NTPC power plant employees, had gone to Kanakunda near Ghogar under Balisankara block for a picnic on Sunday afternoon.
He went missing in the Ib river while enjoying the scenic beauty of Kanakunda. He might have fallen into the river after slipping his feet on the stones.
On being informed, Talasara police and Fire Brigade personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation to find the missing youth. However, till the time of writing this report, they were yet to trace his whereabouts.
