Youth Hacks Mother To Death For Booze In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In a blood-curdling incident, a 30-year-old youth hacked his quinquagenarian mother to death on refusal to give money for buying liquor at Raitala village under Gondia police limits in Dhenkanal district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Tikili Nayak. The accused identified as Ganesh Nayak is on the run.

According to reports, today in the afternoon, Ganesh asked his mother Tikili for money to buy liquor. As Tikili refused to give money to Ganesh an altercation ensued between the two. Irked over his mother’s refusal to part with money, Ganesh hacked the former with a machete lying in their house. As if this was not enough, Ganesh crushed Tikili’s chest with a rock resulting in her instant death.

After killing his mother Ganesh fled into the nearby Aswakhola reserve forest with the machete.

On being informed, IIC of Gondia police station Salil Kumar Pradhan and Sub Inspector Subrat Kumar Sahu rushed to the spot seized Tikili’s body and registered a murder case.

Following instructions of Dhenkanal SP, one team each of the Police and Forest Department have launched a search operation in Sadangi Forest Range to nab the accused.
