Youth Killed In Lightning Strike During Thunderstorm In Balasore

Balasore: A tragic incident occurred near Chakradharpur Chack on the Gandiveda-Aupada road under Khaira police station when a young man was killed in a lightning strike during the thunderstorm under the influence of norwester that hit the area on Friday evening.

The victim, identified as Divyanshu Sethi, a resident of Tarang village under Makhanpur panchayat, was returning home on his scooter after dropping off his sister at her in-laws’ house in Kushnadaspur under Shamsunderpur panchayat.

Eyewitnesses reported that Divyanshu was talking on his mobile phone when the lightning struck. The mobile phone has been completely burnt. Passersby rushed to his aid and took him to the Khaira Community Health Center in an ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.
