Bhubaneswar: Students of Utkal University’s Vani Vihar campus in the capital city on Thursday spotted the body of a youth hanging from a tree.
The deceased has been identified as Uttam Nayak alias Kalia (21).
On being informed, a team from Shahid Nagar police reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
The deceased, a daily wage earner, was a resident of the Dandamukundapur village in Pipili block in Odisha’s Puri district. He was living with his family inside the campus of Utkal University’s Vani Vihar campus in Bhubaneswar.
Uttam’s father told the media that his son was at home last night and he did not know how and when he went out of the house and hung himself from the tree.
The deceased’s father has alleged that Uttam was murdered and his body was later hung from the tree. Saheed Nagar police are searching for evidence to ascertain whether Uttam’s death is a murder or a suicide.
