Baripada: In yet another shocking incident highlighting the deteriorating law and order situation in Odisha, two young men were mercilessly beaten in the middle of a public road in broad daylight, just 500 metres away from the Udala Police Station.
The brutal assault, which has been captured on video and is now being circulated widely on social media, occurred in Ward No 5 under Udala NAC.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of three to four youths attacked the two victims in a highly coordinated and savage manner. The attackers allegedly punched, kicked, and thrashed the victims continuously, leaving them bloodied on the busy road while locals watched helplessly.
It is learnt that, the two victims had publicly raised their voice in April against poor-quality work in the area, which reportedly angered the assailants. The video clearly shows the victims being chased and beaten mercilessly in full public view. The attackers showed no fear of the law, turning the busy street into a wrestling ring. This has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the growing ‘goonda raj’ in the state.
However, no official confirmation has been issued by the police regarding the alleged motive behind the assault. Details surrounding the incident also remain unclear as of now.
