Balasore: In a major crackdown on illegal mining, the Soro Tehsil in Balasore district conducted a raid, seizing five trucks loaded with sand and 10 stone laden truck. The operation was led by Soro Police Station Officer Mukund Murari Patra, Soro Tehsildar Daitari Malik, and Mining Department Officer Jagannath Das.
The raid began at the Bagudi hills, where authorities seized a truck loaded with 10 stones. This was followed by a surprise operation near National Highway No. 16, Telasnagar, where 5 vehicles carrying illegal sand were intercepted. The vehicles, traveling from Bhadrak to Balasore, were seized, and the drivers fled the scene.
The seized vehicles were handed over to the Mining Department, which revealed that several vehicles had been previously released. The authorities are now investigating the matter to identify those involved in the illicit mining activities.
