Sambalpur: The Collector and District Magistrate of Sambalpur has directed all government officials and employees in the district to wear traditional Sambalpuri attire today to mark ‘Sambalpur Din’.
In a letter issued by the Culture Section of the Collectorate on July 31, the administration noted that August 1 is observed as ‘Sambalpur Din’ across Western Odisha to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Guru Satya Narayan Bohidar. The legendary personality is widely remembered for his invaluable contribution to the promotion and preservation of Sambalpuri language, literature and culture. As a mark of respect and solidarity with the occasion, all government officials of Sambalpur district have been advised to wear Sambalpuri dress on August 1, 2026.
The Collector has requested heads of departments, including the Commissioner of Sambalpur Municipal Corporation, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, Sub-Collectors, Block Development Officers, Tahasildars, and other district-level officers, to issue suitable instructions to employees under their administrative control.
They have also been asked to extend full cooperation in the observance of ‘Sambalpur Din’
