Bhubaneswar: In a significant decision, the Odisha Cabinet today approved a proposal to extend the upper age limit for entry to State government service from 32 to 38 years for a period of three years up to 2023.
“In the most important decision taken by the State Cabinet today, it was decided to relax the fixation of upper age limit rules for entry to government service for a period of three years. Earlier for recruitment to various jobs of the State government, the upper age limit was 32 years. The Cabinet has approved for relaxing the limit to 38 years for a period of three years-2021, 2022 and 2023 for recruitments to be made in these years,”informed Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra briefing reporters after the meeting of the State Cabinet.
Mahapatra said that for ST/SC/SEBC candidates the upper age limit has been fixed at 43 years, another five years more.
For women category candidates it has been also relaxed by another five years-upto 43 years, he added.
Similarly, for General PwD category candidates it has been relaxed by additional 10 years-upto 48 years, while for SC/ST/SEBC PwD candidates (including women) the upper age limit has been fixed at 53 years.
Mahapatra said that this decision was taken to enable the youths who could not appear in the recruitment examinations because of the Covid situation and ran out of age during the last two years.
The Chief Secretary informed that the State Cabinet gave its stamp of approval to tenders for five major piped water projects.
The Cabinet approved tender proposals of mega pipe water supply schemes for Samakhunta, Kaptipada and Baripada block of Mayurbhanj district; Banki, Dampada Baranga of Cuttack district; Jujumora, Maneswar Naktideula, Rairakhol blocks of Sambalpur district; and Saraskana, Kuliana and Bangiriposi blocks of Mayurbhanj district.
The Chief Secretary said that the construction of these pipe water supply schemes would be completed in 2 years from the time of the execution of the agreement.
The State Cabinet also gave its nod to Odisha non-Government colleges, Junior colleges, and higher Secondary schools grant-in order 2022.
The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved a total of 12 major decisions relating to the departments of Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts; General Administration and Public Grievances; Higher Education; Panchyati Raj and Drinking Water; and Revenue and Disaster Management.
