Bhubaneswar: An assistant sub inspector of police Madan Mohan Pradhan was arrested by the Vigilance on charges of bribery.
According to the Vigilance, Pradhan was apprehended while receiving a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a litigant.
Pradhan is posted at Janhapanka police outpost under Boudh police limits.
He had demanded the money from a person who was involved in a case registered at Boudh police station.
“This money was demanded to attach strong sections of law to strengthen the evidence of the case, of which he was the Investigating Officer,” the Vigilance stated.
The graft money was recovered by the sleuths from Pradhan’s possession and seized.
The ASI has been booked under Section of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, in a case registered by Berhampur Vigilance division.
