Cuttack: One person was killed and seven persons sustained grievous injuries when a truck ran over two cars, and five motorcycles before ramming into a fruit shop near Khaira bridge at Jagatpur in Cuttack district today evening.
The deceased has been identified as the fruit shop owner Subash Sahu. He succumbed to his injuries while on the way to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
The injured have been shifted to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
“We received eight persons in total. One of them was received dead. The other seven are being provided with first aid. Out of them, three are female and the remaining four are male. They have multiple injuries. They will be first kept under observation. And after the examination, we will do whatever else is needed for them. Doctors from the departments of Surgery and Orthopaedic are taking care of the injured. Services of doctors from other departments will be requisitioned as and when the need arises,” informed Dr Bhubananda Maharana, Emergency Officer, SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack.
As all these patients have multiple injuries, they will be admitted and kept under observation, Dr Maharana added.
Tension prevails in the area following the incident. Police have rushed to the spot to maintain law and order.
