Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested a B-Tech graduate, Pushpak Srichandan, and four associates for running a ganja smuggling network. The gang, which included two youths from West Bengal, was caught with 130 kg of cannabis and two expensive cars.
Pushpak, a resident of Jankia, started the illegal trade after completing his studies. He and his associates bring ganja from Raikia in Kandhamal and sell it in Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said the arrests were made after a tip-off, and the gang was caught while transporting the contraband in a car.
The seizure includes two cars and a large quantity of marijuana. The five arrested individuals are being further investigated for their involvement in the drug trade.
