Baripada: Yet another elephant was found dead in Odisha’s Similipal area on Friday. The carcass of the elephant was dumped near Baliadhirapa under the Bangiriposhi Forest Range in Mayurbhanj district.
While the reason behind the death of the animal is yet to be ascertained, Forest department officials have reached the spot and started an investigation. There is no information about when the elephant died.
Sources said that the animal may have been hunted down by poachers in the region. However, the actual reason behind the elephant’s death will be ascertained only after the Forest officials receive the autopsy report.
