Bhubaneshwar: Hemanta Sharma, Odisha Energy Department Principal Secretary, said that energy grids and emergency transmission towers across districts that may be affected by Cyclone Dana are being closely monitored.
“Preparations are underway and our electricity distribution companies in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Puri, and Cuttack have alerted their executive engineers and SDPOs. They have also set up a control room, while manpower has been kept in preparedness for repair and restoration any kind of damage by the impending Cyclone Dana,” Sharma told the media.
Sharma added, “All vulnerable grids and emergency transmission towers in the districts are being mapped. Our arrangements will be completed as per the SOP in the coming days. We will control the power supply on October 24-25 seeing the intensity of rain and the wind speed”.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Cyclone Dana would cross the north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island between the night of October 24 and early morning of October 25.
