Khurda: At least seven people, including a child, sustained varying degrees of injuries after a passenger bus overturned near Baghmari in Khurda district around 2.30 am on Monday. All the injured have been admitted to Khurdha District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
According to reports, a passenger bus named Chakadola, which was going from Ganjam to Bhubaneswar, hit an electric pole on the side of the road near Baghamari on the National Highway No 57 of Khurdha-Bolangir and overturned. The rescue operation was delayed as the bus’ landing gate was pressed against the ground after it overturned. A JCB was used to rescue the injured.
Local youths and police rescued the injured and admitted them to the Khurdha District Headquarters Hospital.
There were about 60 passengers on the bus. Foggy weather, which reduced visibility considerably, is said to be the reason behind the accident.
