Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has intensified vehicle checking in the Twin Cities, blocking and checking two and four wheelers at various locations. This special drive targets vehicles with tinted glass, multi-toned horns, and modified silencers. The police are also confiscating driving licenses from people driving under the influence of alcohol and taking action against drivers violating traffic rules.
The checking is being conducted jointly by the officials of Regional Transport Office (RTO) and the Commissionerate Police. On Monday, 19 four-wheelers and 25 bikes with modified silencer were seized, and a fine of Rs. 95,000 was collected. The Police Commissioner directed the team to raise awareness until February 10, followed by strict action against modified silencers and other violators.
“Raids were conducted at five locations, including Nandankanan Road, Link Road, Jayadev Vihar, AG Square, and Nalco Square on Monday. The police detected 19 vehicles using black glass and collected a fine of Rs. 95,000. The drive is being carried out jointly by the RTO and Commissionerate Police, with the crackdown continuing, said Tapan Mohanty, Traffic DCP.
