Jajpur: Police have arrested four individuals from both groups involved in the attack on the car of former MLA Pranab Balabantaray in Aruha village under Dharmasala police limits of Jajpur district.
According to reports, last Saturday, the former MLA and his supporters had gone to Aruha village to attend a Hingula Yajna ritual. Some local youths opposed them and allegedly pelted stones and hit with sticks at his car. The incident led to tension in the area, prompting the deployment of one platoon of police force at the spot.
While the former MLA accused the Jajpur police of negligence, he did not file a formal complaint at the police station. However, his supporters lodged a complaint, and the opposing group also filed a counter-complaint. Based on these, the police registered two separate cases.
Jajpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) investigated the incident and arrested four individuals from both groups last night. Today, the police produced the accused—Manoj Das from Kumari village, Suresh Samal, Rajendra Barik, and Susant Samal from Aruha village before the court.
