Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Monday seized cannabis worth over Rs 1 crore while being smuggled out of the state and arrested two persons in connection with smuggling.
According to sources, the Special Crime Unit of the Commissionerate Police waylaid a truck near Kharavela Park in the Khandagiri area based on a tip-off. During the search, the truck disguised as a camphor transporter was found to be carrying five quintals of cannabis hidden behind camphor packets.
Investigations revealed that the cannabis was loaded in Phulbani and was bound for Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police are conducting further investigations to unravel the network behind this smuggling operation, identifying key players and potential links to larger trafficking rings.
