Bhubaneswar: Four fishermen from Chudamani of Bhadrak district area were rescued on Tuesday evening after being stranded in sea for a week.
The fishermen, who were on a fishing trip, were caught in a storm that capsized their boat on August 24. They managed to cling to the wreckage of the boat and drifted at sea for two days before being rescued near the Banigachha coast.
On the August 27 evening, the boat owner received news about the stranded fishermen and promptly contacted local boats to initiate a rescue operation. The fishermen, who were found near Banigachha coast in ailing condition, were rescued at night and rushed to Basudebpur Community Health Centre in an ambulance.
Their health deteriorated significantly due to being stranded at sea for two days.
The rescued fishermen are Prakash Malik (34), Pabana Malik (56), Bana Malik (27), and Sapan Malik (70). They are currently undergoing treatment at the Community Health Centre due to being stranded at sea for an extended period.
