Bhubaneswar: The Office of the Sub-Collector in Jagatsinghpur has ordered the immediate dismissal of Santosh Kumar Satapathy, Lecturer in Commerce department at Balikuda College, after an inquiry found that he had submitted a fake M.Com certificate at the time of his appointment to secure the job.
The case came to light following a complaint lodged through the CM Jana Sunani Portal, which raised serious doubts about the authenticity of Satapathy’s academic credentials. Subsequent correspondence from the Regional Director of Education led to the formation of a fact-finding team to investigate the allegations.
The investigation team submitted its report on May 28, 2022, concluding that the M.Com degree claimed to be from EIILM University, Sikkim (2014) was fraudulent. The report highlighted multiple discrepancies and confirmed that the certificate was invalid.
In response, the Office of the Sub-Collector in Jagatsinghpur—who also serves as the President of Balikuda College—issued orders for the immediate dismissal of Santosh Kumar Satapathy.
“As per the report of the fact-finding team, the M.Com certificate produced by Sri Santosh Kumar Satapathy, which was issued by EIILM University, Sikkim in 2014, is fake. His services are no longer required at this college. Based on the report of the fact-finding team, Sri Santosh Kumar Satapathy, Lecturer in Commerce, Balikuda College, is hereby dismissed with effect from the date of this communication,” the letter stated.
Additionally, the college administration has been directed to initiate recovery proceedings to reclaim all salary payments made to Satapathy since the date of his appointment, as his employment was based on forged documents.
“You are also requested to take the necessary steps to recover the total amount paid to Sri Santosh Kumar Satapathy since his joining the said college,” the letter further stated.
