Elephant Found Dead In Reamal Forest, Probe Underway

Bhubaneswar: A wild elephant was found dead at Kaunsitaila under the Tinkbir beat of the Reamal forest range in Deogarh district.

According to reports, the elephant had been causing damage to crops in the area and was suspected to have come into contact with an electric wire set up to protect the crops.

The elephant is believed to have died late at night, and the villagers spotted the carcass in the morning. They informed the forest department. Upon receiving the information, Reamal Range Officer Niranjan Dharua and Forester Pradeep Satapathy reached the spot and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of death. A post-mortem will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The incident has drawn a large crowd of locals, who have gathered at the scene to see the elephant’s carcass. The forest department has assured that further details will be revealed after the post-mortem.
