Bhubaneswar: A wave of grief has engulfed Atarang village under Aska block in Ganjam district following the sudden demise of a man while performing his father’s tenth-day death rituals.
The consecutive losses have shattered the family, leaving them in a state of profound sorrow, and the entire village in a state of mourning.
According to reports, Udaya Gouda, a 50-year-old resident of Atarang, breathed his last on March 11, leaving behind his wife, a son, and a daughter. The grieving family was still coping with the loss when their only son, Rajendra Goud (30) died.
Rajendra was performing the tenth-day rituals for his late father when he suddenly took ill and collapsed. He was taken to hospital where he was declared dead. The village is now grappling with the question of how to perform the funeral rites of the father and son duo, as the family is left with no able-bodied person to carry out the rituals.
Notably, Rajendra was the sole breadwinner of the family, leaving behind his wife and three minor children.
The villagers, meanwhile, urged the district administration to provide immediate aid to the bereaved family, who are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
