Bhawanipatna: A prisoner lodged in the district jail here escaped in the early hours of Wednesday by scaling the jail wall.
The inmate, identified as Jagannath Shabar of Themara village under Sadar police station limits, was in jail in connection with a theft case. He reportedly jumped over the boundary wall at around 12.30 am.
Following the incident, jail authorities filed a written complaint at Sadar police station. Sadar police have started an investigation and a search operation is underway to trace the escapee. Further details on how the prisoner managed to breach security are await
