Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida on Wednesday visited Ganjam district and reviewed welfare schemes and developmental works of the Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism departments at the Rusikulya Conference Hall.
Parida said real development of society is not possible without the empowerment of women and girls. She noted that initiatives like the SAMPURNA Mission and Nirbhaya Kadhi would give a special identity to Ganjam. The Deputy Chief Minister directed officials to fill all vacant posts in Anganwadi centres by the end of July. She stressed the need for own buildings, electricity connections, and toilets for Anganwadi centres in the district. Where electricity is not available, she suggested providing connections under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana.
Parida said the government is determined to completely eliminate malnutrition in Ganjam. She added that the Jagannath Circuit, Beach Circuit, and Shakti Circuit would be extensively improved to boost tourism. She also reviewed the Subhadra Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Poshan Yojana, Nirbhaya Kadhi, and self-help group activities. Aska MP Anita Subhadarsani urged the Deputy Chief Minister to expedite developmental works in the parliamentary constituency and to grant tourist destination status to Panchalingeshwar Peetha in Ganjam.
Chhatrapur MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak sought steps for the restoration of Tampara Lake. The District Tourism Officer informed that under the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana, 775 beneficiaries visited Ayodhya and Varanasi in the first phase, while another 775 beneficiaries visited Ujjain and Omkareshwar in the second phase. On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with Subhadra Shakti and Lakhpati Didi members of the district, listened to their experiences and success stories, and encouraged others to follow their example.
Parida formally launched the logo and SOP of the ‘Sampurna Shri Mission’. Girls from Ganjam block performed the campaign song ‘Nirbhaya Kadhi’, an initiative aimed at preventing child marriage and empowering girls. Presentations on Ganjam Samarpan, Brahmapuri Pata, and Pata Frame were also made during the meeting.
