Bhubaneswar: In a significant anti-corruption drive, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of Himadri Kumar Panda, Ex-Senior Clerk of M Rampur Tahasil Office in Kalahandi district in a bribery case.
Ccurrently posted as Senior Clerk in the District Planning & Monitoring Unit in Bhawanipatna, Panda was convicted today by the Special Vigilance Judge, Bhawanipatna. The court found him guilty under Section 13(2) 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe from a staff member of the Tahasil office in exchange for facilitating the drawl of his GPF (General Provident Fund) advance.
The Special Judge sentenced Panda to undergo one year of simple imprisonment along with a fine. Following his conviction, Odisha Vigilance has announced that it will move the competent authority for the dismissal of Panda from government service.
