Baripada: A Special POCSO Court in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday sentenced two persons to five years’ imprisonment each after convicting them in a case related to making obscene photos and videos of a minor girl viral.
Baripada Special POCSO Court Judge Santosh Kumar Nayak also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh on each of the convicts and awarded two years of unpaid hard labour.
The convicts were identified as Dinesh Kumar Patra of Kundia village in Balasore district and Jayakrishna Behera of Jadida area under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
According to the prosecution, the case dates back to 2021 when Baisinga police arrested the accused for allegedly maintaining an illicit relationship with a minor girl, mentally and physically torturing her, and circulating her obscene photos and videos.
The court pronounced the verdict after examining the statements of 20 witnesses and other evidence produced during the trial. Public Prosecutor Pravat Kumar Behera conducted the case.
