Bhubaneswar: Police have booked a 35-year-old man for allegedly operating a drone over the Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar without the required permission, officials said on Monday.
Acting on information about the unauthorised drone activity over the protected monument, a case was registered at the Lingaraj Police Station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958.
During the investigation, police seized the drone allegedly used in the incident along with the motorcycle used by the accused. A notice has been served on him in connection with the case.
The Lingaraj temple, one of Odisha’s most revered shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, is a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Authorities said flying drones over protected monuments without prior authorisation is prohibited under the applicable regulations.
Further investigation is underway.
