Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday extended the deadline for Rabi paddy procurement till July 3, 2026, to accommodate farmers whose produce is still pending in several districts.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said the decision was taken after it was found that procurement was yet to be completed in 3–4 districts, including Nuapada, Baleshwar and a few others in small quantities.
“Today was the last date for Rabi paddy procurement, but in some districts farmers’ paddy is still pending. Therefore, we have decided to extend the procurement till July 3. All farmers who have received tokens will be covered,” the minister said while briefing the media.
He informed that so far, 3,36,052 farmers have sold their paddy and 18,79,919 metric tonnes have already been procured across the state.
With the extension, the total procurement is expected to cross the 20 lakh metric tonne mark, he added.
