Baleshwar: A man was killed and two others, including a woman and a minor girl, sustained serious injuries after a dumper truck collided head-on with their motorcycle near the NH-16 Baleshwar-Basta Bypass on Tuesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Kamal Lochan Sahu of Mardarajpur village in Nilagiri.
According to preliminary information, Sahu was returning home on a motorcycle along with his sister and niece from the Basta-Amarda Road area when a dumper coming from the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle near the bypass.
Sahu died on the spot due to the impact of the collision, while his sister and niece suffered grievous injuries. Both were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Baleshwar for treatment, where their condition was stated to be serious.
Police have seized the dumper involved in the accident and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.
