Bhubaneswar: The Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer (CDMO) of Balasore has issued a strict directive to all doctors participating in the ongoing strike called by the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA), asking them to withdraw from the strike and report for duty within 12 hours.
In an official letter dated July 3, 2026, the CDMO warned that disciplinary action will be taken against absentee doctors as per instructions from the Commissioner-cum-Secretary to the Government, Health & Family Welfare Department, Odisha.
The letter, addressed to the DMO (MS)-cum-Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) Balasore, Superintendent of SDH Nilgiri, and all Community Health Centres (CHCs), appeals to the doctors to resume duty at the earliest “to avoid any disciplinary action by the Government.”
It further states that all OMHS cadre doctors and other doctors participating in the strike have been asked to report for duty immediately. This strong directive from the Balasore CDMO comes amid the ongoing doctors’ strike in the district, putting pressure on the striking doctors to return to work within the given deadline.
