Bhubaneswar: A 55-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in Paitapani village under Anandpur police limits in Keonjhar district late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Bibhishan Ho of Kantipal Panchayat. According to villagers, Bibhishan had been involved in a murder case a few years ago in which he had killed a man from the same village with an arrow. He was imprisoned for five years and had returned to the village about three years ago after completing his jail term.
Police said some miscreants allegedly attacked and stabbed Bibhishan to death while he was sleeping inside his house. The incident came to light this morning when family members found him dead and informed Anandpur police.
A police team reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Anandpur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination. The son of the deceased, Shukdev Ho, has lodged a complaint at the police station.
Anandpur police have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain who was behind the killing and the motive behind it. Further inquiry is underway.
