Bhubaneswar: The Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department has intensified its crackdown on the illegal stockpiling of LPG cylinders across Odisha.
In an update shared on its official X account on August 12, 2026, the department informed that enforcement teams carried out raids at 3792 locations in the state. During these operations, a total of 8208 gas cylinders were seized. As many as 46 FIRs have been registered in connection with the cases. Further, 492 cases have been booked under the Essential Commodities Act, while nine persons have been arrested so far.
The ongoing drive aims to curb the illegal hoarding and black-marketing of domestic LPG cylinders and ensure their smooth supply to genuine consumers.
