Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced major relaxations for government job aspirants, including removal of the attempt limit for Odisha Civil Services Examination and raising the upper age limit from 32 to 42 years.
Addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Bhubaneswar, the CM said the decisions were taken to give maximum opportunities to candidates amid high competition for limited posts.
“We all know that government jobs are limited. The competition for each post is very high. Therefore, to give maximum opportunities to the applicants for government jobs, the upper age limit has been increased from 32 to 42 years,” Majhi said.
“I am announcing on this auspicious occasion today to remove the maximum number of six opportunities for the Odisha Civil Services Examination. Now, opportunities will be available up to the upper age limit for this examination,” the Chief Minister announced. He also said that some restrictions on compassionate appointments after the demise of government employees have been relaxed.
The CM reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” policy against corruption. “Since the day it came to power. You all know that from PIO to IAS, from newly recruited officers to retired officers, there is no peace for those who indulge in corruption. Due to the government’s anti-corruption initiatives, the conviction rate in cases of corruption is more than 50 percent,” he said.
Majhi directed officers to ensure a clean and corruption-free examination environment. “If there is even the slightest deviation in the examination, strict action will be taken immediately. Our government has considered corruption and irregularities in examinations as an unpardonable crime. This message should go clearly to both the examination mafia and the examination officials,” he warned.
Highlighting governance reforms, the CM said the government has heard 15,000 grievances in 18 sessions since coming to power and resolved 96 percent of them. “Due to our government’s policy, the grievance redressal process is now going on regularly from the state level to the block level,” he said.
The Chief Minister appealed to all government officials to work in a “clean, transparent and corruption-free manner” as the government is fully aware of their activities.
