Bhubaneswar: Eight fishermen who were missing at sea for 28 days have been rescued near Digha mouth on the Odisha-West Bengal border. The fishermen were rescued in their fishing boat about 100 km from Digha mouth by another fishing trawler.
All eight are reported to be safe. According to reports, the trawler had ventured into the sea from Andhra Pradesh for fishing 28 days ago.
Its engine developed a snag mid-sea, following which it lost control and started drifting. The trawler drifted for a long time before reaching the border area of Odisha and West Bengal.
After being rescued, the fishermen informed authorities at Digha mouth through wireless. The local administration and rescue team then swung into action and brought the fishermen and the boat to safety.
