Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha government has intensified food quality inspections across the state during the ongoing festival season to ensure safe and hygienic food for the public.
According to official data shared by the department, substandard food weighing 3,605 kg was destroyed in the last three days. During these drives, 475 food samples were collected for laboratory testing.
Besides, the departmental authorities have imposed fines amounting to Rs 2.84 lakh on violators and issued notice to 189 food outlets for violating norms.
The department stated that continuous efforts are being made to provide people with safe and quality food at all times. Strict action is being taken against those found violating food safety standards.
