Jayapur (Koraput): A review meeting on the progress of Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 was held at the conference hall of Koraput District Museum.
The meeting was attended by Election Commission of India Principal Secretary S.B. Joshi, Joint Secretary Bibhor Agarwal and Deputy Secretary of Home (Election) Department, Government of Odisha, Jitendra Patra. At the outset, Koraput Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan welcomed the ECI and State Home Department officials and introduced all officers present.
With the final voter list scheduled to be published on September 21, 2026, Principal Secretary Joshi reviewed the progress of SIR-2026 for each Assembly constituency. He interacted with all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) regarding field-level implementation, progress and challenges.
On the occasion, the Principal Secretary laid special emphasis on functioning of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs). He directed officials to expand ELC activities to involve new and young voters in the electoral process and to take specific steps to create democratic awareness among students, youth and common citizens.
The meeting concluded with instructions to complete SIR-2026 work within the deadline and strictly follow all guidelines of the Election Commission of India. District Electoral Registration Officers, Deputy Collectors of Election Wing and other senior officers were present.
