Every tonne of aluminium produced, the metal of the future, reflects the combined efforts of engineering professionals across disciplines. The journey of aluminium begins at the mines, where mining and geological engineers identify mineral deposits and plan their responsible extraction.
Bauxite ore is processed at the company’s mega alumina refinery in Kalahandi, Odisha, where chemical and process engineers convert it into alumina, the key raw material for aluminium. From there, alumina moves to the company’s smelters in Jharsuguda, Odisha and Korba, Chhattisgarh, where metallurgical engineers oversee its conversion into molten aluminium through electrolysis.
Next, molten aluminium is shaped into a wide range of products by mechanical and product development engineers, from billets, wire rods and primary foundry alloys to slabs and rolled products. Supporting this entire ecosystem are civil, structural, safety and environmental engineers, who help ensure reliable infrastructure, safe operations and responsible resource management. Together, these disciplines transform a natural resource into a versatile metal.
