Bhubaneswar: The Central Excise Intelligence Department Unit-2, Cuttack on Tuesday registered an NDPS case and seized a huge quantity of codeine-mixed cough syrup and foreign liquor.
Acting on the instructions of Excise Superintendent Vikas Kumar Nayak, officials raided the house of accused Jitendra Kumar Dalabehera (39), of Damsahi, Ranpur police station, Nayagarh.
From his house, a total of 200 litres of codeine-mixed cough syrup and 75.84 litres of foreign liquor were seized. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 1.90 lakh.
The accused has been forwarded to court and investigation is underway. The raid team included Sub-Inspector Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Int. Raghunandan Mallik along with Sanjay Das, Deepak Kumar Sahu, Surjit Nath, Satyabrat Sahu and Rajni Panchabhaya.
