Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a Nowcast Warning for several districts of Odisha including the Twin Cities of Bhubaneswar and Kataka predicting light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning in next three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued at 11:05 am on Thursday, light to moderate rain, thunder and lightning along with wind speed reaching 40 kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places of 13 districts over the next three hours.
Districts under alert are Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Jajpur, Kataka (including Kataka City), Khordha (including Bhubaneswar City), Koraput, Gajapati and Rayagada.
The MeT has advised people to keep a watch on the weather for worsening conditions and plan accordingly for their safety.
People in Bhubaneswar and Kataka are advised to stay indoors during lightning and avoid open areas.
