Man Kills Brother-In-Law, Dumps Body On Track To Stage Accident In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A person allegedly murdered his brother-in-law over personal reasons and later tried to stage it as a rail accident.

The incident took place in the VSS Nagar area under Saheed Nagar police limits in Bhubaneswar.

The accused has been identified as Suresh Singh, originally from Nepal. He was residing at Tarini Basti in VSS Nagar along with his wife, who hails from Ganjam district.

According to police, Suresh suspected his wife of being involved in an extramarital affair and had been allegedly subjecting her to physical assault for the last few days. Unable to bear the torture, his wife moved to her parents’ house.

Her brother, Pathani Sahu, who was also living in VSS Nagar, had reportedly intervened and tried to mediate between the couple.

Suresh, however, turned his suspicion towards Pathani. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked Pathani with a stone and killed him on the spot. To conceal the crime, he later dumped the body on nearby railway tracks to make it appear like an accidental death.

The Saheed Nagar police have taken Suresh into custody and further investigation is underway.
