PM Modi’s Praise For Former CM Vasundhara Raje Sparks Political Buzz, Signals BJP Unity In Rajasthan

Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to publicly acknowledge former Rajasthan Chief Minister and veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vasundhara Raje during a massive rally in Balotra district has triggered fresh political buzz, with BJP leaders and political observers viewing the gesture as a significant message of unity within the party ahead of future electoral battles.

Addressing a massive public gathering after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating development projects worth Rs 1.06 lakh crore, PM Modi referred to Raje while recalling key milestones in Rajasthan’s development, including the Narmada water agreement and the Pachpadra Refinery.

The Prime Minister’s remarks stood out because they came in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, giving a message of political unity.

Recalling his tenure as the former Gujarat Chief Minister, PM Modi said that when the issue of sharing Narmada water with Rajasthan arose, several states across the country were locked in water disputes.

However, he said, Gujarat and Rajasthan chose cooperation over confrontation.

“Fortunately, I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat at that time, and Vasundhara Raje ji was the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Together, we ensured that Narmada water reached Rajasthan without any dispute, agitation or conflict,” the Prime Minister said.

He also referred to Raje personally while recalling the early stages of the Pachpadra Refinery project, saying, “Sister Vasundhara Raje and I worked together…”

The remark drew loud applause from the gathering, with BJP workers greeting the statement enthusiastically.

The applause was echoed hundreds of kilometres away in Jaipur, where Raje was participating virtually in the state-level programme organised to mark the launch of Jaipur Metro Phase 2 and other development initiatives.

Those present at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium Indoor Hall also responded with prolonged applause as PM Modi’s remarks were broadcast.

In Jaipur, former Chief Minister Raje responded by praising the Prime Minister’s leadership, saying one of PM Modi’s greatest strengths is his determination to complete every project he undertakes.

She described Saturday as “a day of special gifts for Rajasthan”, noting that PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of the Pachpadra Refinery in January 2018 and had now dedicated the project to the nation.

She also recalled that Jaipur Metro’s first phase became operational under PM Modi’s leadership in 2015 and said the launch of Metro Phase 2 represented another major step towards the vision of “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Rajasthan”.

Raje also lauded the Centre-state “double-engine government”, saying it was accelerating infrastructure development across Rajasthan.

During the programme, former Chief Minister Raje distributed appointment letters to newly recruited youths for various government departments and congratulated Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

The Prime Minister’s praise for Raje and her equally warm endorsement of his leadership created a carefully synchronised political narrative that resonated strongly with BJP workers across the state.

For many within the party, PM Modi’s repeated references to Raje were more than a recollection of past development initiatives.

They were seen as a public acknowledgement of Raje’s contribution to Rajasthan’s growth and a message that the BJP’s senior leadership remains united despite periodic political speculation.

“With Prime Minister Modi, the current Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the party’s senior state leader Vasundhara Raje appearing aligned on one platform, physically and virtually, the BJP succeeded in projecting organisational cohesion alongside its development agenda, giving party workers a fresh dose of confidence as the political focus gradually shifts toward the next electoral cycle,” party leaders said.
