Bhubaneswar: Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, has been appointed Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee under the National Tourism Committee for a tenure of one year. This appointment recognises his proven leadership in hospitality and tourism and his deep understanding of regional and national tourism.
With a distinguished career of over three decades in the hospitality and tourism industry, Mohapatra is widely regarded as a seasoned hotelier and strategic leader. Currently, as Managing Director for India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, he leads the brand’s strategic expansion in South Asia and contributes to its wider Asia-Pacific growth. Atmosphere Core is an international hospitality company operating multiple award winning resort brands, with a growing portfolio across the Maldives, India and the wider Indian Ocean region. Under his leadership, Atmosphere Core has announced an ambitious development pipeline, including a robust plan for new properties across India.
Over the years, Mohapatra has been recognised for his role in shaping contemporary hospitality, combining operational excellence with innovation and guest-centricity. At Atmosphere Core, he continues to champion the brand philosophy of the “Joy of Giving”, focusing on authentic experiences, service culture and sustainable value creation for guests and stakeholders.
As Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee, operating under the National Tourism Committee, Mohapatra is expected to bring together industry, government and community stakeholders to accelerate tourism development in Eastern India and the wider region. Drawing on his extensive experience in hotel development, regional brand building and destination promotion, he is well placed to contribute to strategic policy recommendations, capacity building initiatives and investment friendly frameworks. His deep understanding of both mature and emerging markets will support FICCI’s efforts to strengthen connectivity, enhance tourism infrastructure and improve service standards.
