Baripada: Several tribal outfits led by the Masha Army have called for a 12-hour Mayurbhanj bandh on Tuesday. The protesters have demanded Government recognition of tribal language and literature and regularisation of the jobs of 100 community mobilisers and 20 Mundari teachers.
According to the participants in the bandh, the local administration and state government have not paid attention to their long standing demands following which they decided to go for a district-wide bandh.
“Our community mobilisers and Mundari teachers have been working for the last 15 years uninterruptedly. Apart from their routine work, these people also attend to different works allotted by the local administration. They deserve to be regularised,” the protesters said.
The impact of the bandh was witnessed in Baripada, Kaptipada, Bamanghati and Panchapidhi. Members of organisations like – Adibasi – Mulabasi Manch, Majhi Pargana Mahal, Mundari Samaj Sawar Jamda, etc participated in large numbers to mark the strike.
