Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Tuesday informed that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the state provide 120 types of free medicines and conduct 16 different diagnostic tests to ensure comprehensive healthcare services in rural areas.
Speaking to the media, Mahaling said these centres, staffed with Community Health Officers and multipurpose health workers, play a pivotal role in delivering essential healthcare to people in over 6,700 Gram Panchayats. The free medicines include treatment for common non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes.
The diagnostic tests available at these centres cover a range of conditions, including sickle cell disease and HIV, allowing for early detection and timely intervention.
The minister further added that after dispensing medicines, patients are regularly tracked for follow-up care to ensure treatment effectiveness.
Mahaling reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening the rural health infrastructure through these Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, aiming to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all sections of society.
