Bhubaneswar: As many as 36,000 police personnel will be deployed for the 4th and last phase of simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in Odisha.
“36,000 police personnel will be deployed for election duty. Out of them 126 companies are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), 86 platoons are from Odisha State Armed Police and 20,500 civil police personnel,” informed Arun Kumar Sarangi, DGP, Odisha addressing a presser here today.
Giving rank-wise details Sarangi said that 44 ASPs,99 DSPs, 210 Inspectors, 2583 from SI and ASI ranks, 9476 Havildars & constables who will be mostly armed, 8,083 home guards and Gram Rakhis, 4 young IPS officers of SDPO rank, and 12 young direct recruit DSPs have been mobilised for election duty.
“This phase of elections will be conducted in 10,882 booths which are located in 8752 locations out of which 21 per cent have been termed as critical or sensitive which are being reviewed every moment,” the DGP informed.
He said that 843 mobile patrolling parties will be engaged and added that strict vigil is being maintained at 21 border checkposts.
Sarangi further informed that as many as 255 flying squads and 255 static surveillance teams have been deployed.
In the 4th phase of the simultaneous elections in the State to be held tomorrow polling will be held for six Lok Sabha seats and their 42 Assembly segments.
