Kataka: The Kataka Municipal Corporation and the Health Department conducted a massive raid against adulterated cheese in the city on Monday and seized about 70 quintals of the spurious product.
The raid was carried out jointly by teams of the Health Department and Food Safety Department of the Municipal Corporation. Officials said a large quantity of adulterated cheese was being brought to the market due to the monsoon season. The seized consignment had reportedly come to Cuttack from the Niali area.
The team intercepted the cheese near Link Road and seized it. The entire stock of adulterated cheese was later destroyed by the department at the Satichoura dumping yard. Samples of the seized cheese have been collected and sent to the laboratory for testing.
The City Health Department said further action will be taken against the traders involved after the report is reviewed. A day earlier, the KMC team had also conducted a raid in CDA Sector-7 and seized one quintal of adulterated cheese.
The civic body has warned that such drives will continue to check the sale of unsafe dairy products in the city during the monsoon.
