Bhubaneswar: The air quality in Odisha’s Angul district is worse than that in New Delhi, a bulletin released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on Monday said. In all, the air quality in six urban areas in the state has been marked as very poor.
While the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 4.00 pm on Monday was 345 in New Delhi, while that in Angul was 352. Other urban areas in the state where the air quality is alarming are Balasore (334), Bhubaneswar (334), Cuttack (340), Keonjhar (326), and Talcher (304).
The CPCB has warned that the air quality in six urban areas in Odisha was very poor on Sunday and revealed that the AQI of Balasore was worse than that in New Delhi.
According to environmental experts, the prevailing fog is not allowing waste and harmful air such as carbon dioxide (CO2) to escape the Earth’s stratosphere and this is making air pollution worse. In addition, industrial activities and rampant construction are also responsible for the deteriorating air quality.
People are likely to face breathing problems with the air quality declining in several places of the state.
