Berhampur: Digapahandi police have arrested nine persons including the prime accused in connection with the double murder which took place on April 24. Sudhir Patra and Sudarsan Suara of Palajhadi village were killed and their bodies were recovered on the roadside in their village.
The prime accused in this case Prasant Gouda paid Rs 50,000 each to three persons Budu Das, Deb Reddy and Kuna Gouda for eliminating the political rivals. Apart from them, five others were also involved in the crime. All of the nine accused have been arrested, said Berhampur SP Pinak Mishra.
According to the police, Prasant’s wife had lost the Sarpanch election for Chasa Nimakhandi panchayat by merely 4 votes. He had spent around Rs 40 lakh for the campaign and other expenses and could not stand the loss. Following this, Prasant hatched a plot to kill his rivals, the police added.
