Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJP legislator Bhabani Shankar Bhoi on was elected deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly unanimously.
Speaker Surama Padhy announced Bhoi as the Deputy Speaker of the House and expressed hope that he would efficiently and impartially run the House in her absence.
CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy CMs KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, Congress Legislature Party chief, Rama Chandra Kadam congratulated Bhoi for being elected as Deputy speaker of the house.
Bhoi on Tuesday filed the nomination papers for the post of deputy speaker. No other member from BJD and Congress filed nomination for the post.
Bhoi was elected to the Odisha Legislative Assembly twice in 2019 and 2024.
