Bhubaneswar: The Balanga police station has been transformed into a fortified camp amid heightened tensions following a protest by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers. The protesters gheraoed the police station, demanding justice for the minor girl who was brutally set on fire by miscreants in the area.
The situation escalated as BJD workers attempted to barge into the police station, leading to a clash with police personnel. Three platoons of forces have been deployed to maintain law and order.
BJD workers are demanding the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida over the incident. Meanwhile, Pipili SDPO Debashish Mishra assured that an investigation is underway based on CCTV footage.
The police have questioned eight people, including relatives and friends of three minor girls, but clarified that no one has been detained in the case. Earlier, three individuals were picked up for questioning and later released.
The victim’s statement was recorded in the presence of a magistrate at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, where she is undergoing treatment. The police are working to ensure justice for the victim and her family.
Meanwhile, the victim has been airlifted to Delhi AIIMS for advance medical care.
