BMC Diktat: Latecomers To Face Pay Cut

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take stern action against the latecomers.

In an official order issued by the BMC Commissioner on May 07, 2024, all staff are uniformly notified to be punctual to the office irrespective of the position or nature of their jobs.

The order reads, “All the staff (Regular, Contractual, DLR, CLR, and Outsourcing) of BMC including Zone offices and BMC hospital are directed to attend office in scheduled time i.e. 10:00 A.M positively and record their attendance through a biometric device. Arriving in the office beyond 10:30 A.M will be marked as late attendance.”

The notification states up to 2 times a month later comers can get relaxation by giving proper justification, beyond which half-day casual leave will be deducted from the leave account of the respective employee for one-day late attendance.

Whereas, coming late to the office for more than 10 days will account for disciplinary action.

The rules are relaxed for employees engaged in the field duties with prior knowledge of the concerned section head.

For Staff working without any facilities of CL/EL, one day’s salary will be deducted for 07 days of late attendance in a month, beyond which it will be treated as an unauthorized absence.

The order also directs, supervising officers to reach the office on time and maintain punctuality.

The notification is issued to facilitate work efficiency and maintain the organisational standards.
